Outside Sundays

Outside Sundays is an ongoing series of afternoon getaways extending the concepts behind "Theory Tuesdays" and "Practical Fridays". On any given Sunday, an invited person chooses a destination to visit together. The destination is not published beforehand and is reachable by foot and/or public transportation. A typical getaway takes between 2-4 hours.

Iris Rennert chose this Sunday’s getaway destination. Mirjam Bayerdörfer invited Iris Rennert for the 37th Outside Sunday.

Meeting point: 2.30 pm, at Das marsie – Raum für kollektive Kunst,
part of “WE WALK”, Elisabethenstrasse 26, 8004 Zürich (Kalkbreite/Bhf.Wiedikon: Tram 2,3,  Bus 32)

[Invitation]

– Tock.
Tock tock tock.

There’s this image of Iris with a hammer.
Obviously you can’t see any sound.

Still it seems to me, with or without a hammer, that with the presence of Iris there’s sound. In her presence, things start to emit sound: or rather sound_s, plural sounds, very different tock tocks, click clicks, bang bangs. With or without banging or pushing or touching, she asks for a response, for some feedback from the world around her.

Maybe it’s the listening rather than the banging.
Maybe it’s the supporting rather than the touching.
Maybe it’s the deep interest for what the inside looks like, what it’s made of, for the inner state of things and beings,
that makes objects, organisms, systems, fellow humans reveal and raise their voice. –
