Outside Sundays

Outside Sundays is an ongoing series of afternoon getaways extending the concepts behind "Theory Tuesdays" and "Practical Fridays". On any given Sunday, an invited person chooses a destination to visit together. The destination is not published beforehand and is reachable by foot and/or public transportation. A typical getaway takes between 2-4 hours.

Tine Melzer chose this Sunday’s getaway destination. Mirjam Bayerdörfer invited Tine Melzer for the 35th Outside Sunday.

– Once I found myself at a speed dating format with Tine. Later this moment turned out as the only pleasurable part of attending this weirdly antique networking game.
Almost a year later I found myself in the train’s board bistro sharing a bottle of white wine with Tine. We were both returning to Zurich from Basel, one of the last Art Fair days, though none of us had been to the actual Art Fair. During this second, self chosen speed dating session it showed she had figured out something that I once had been looking for desperately: How to embrace writing within the fine arts. After years dedicated to this question, I had abandoned it. I thought. But there it was again: Writing. Art. Language. Text. Voice. Authorship. You know how things you thought you left behind keep coming back? Sometimes after years? Did you ever wonder which part of this life long thematic spiral of speed dating is self chosen? –
