Outside Sundays

Outside Sundays is an ongoing series of afternoon getaways extending the concepts behind "Theory Tuesdays" and "Practical Fridays". On any given Sunday, an invited person chooses a destination to visit together. The destination is not published beforehand and is reachable by foot and/or public transportation. A typical getaway takes between 2-4 hours.

Michael Günzburger chose this Sunday’s getaway destination.*)

– Michael makes use of various tools when doing art. One of them is his body. One is wool fat. One is focus, one is distraction.

Doing art in his case is doing images. But rather than images his works reveal to be leftovers, witnesses, excuses for engaging in awkward and consumingly intensive production processes.

This seems to have an existentially comforting effect. My body relaxes in the presence of his works. As if there was some mirroring effect happening, turning my body into a tool needed for production, I find myself face to face, eye to eye with the wool fat. –
