Outside Sundays

Outside Sundays is an ongoing series of afternoon getaways extending the concepts behind "Theory Tuesdays" and "Practical Fridays". On any given Sunday, an invited person chooses a destination to visit together. The destination is not published beforehand and is reachable by foot and/or public transportation. A typical getaway takes between 2-4 hours.

Olivia Wiederkehr chose this Sunday’s getaway destination. *)

– Bern Holligen, a cold and wet February. There was Olivia, flanked by signs of gentrification, melting snow, and a fake peperoni. Facing this composition I did not yet know that I would spend the week faking cucumbers.
When we left, the vegetables stayed. Whereas the cucumbers ended up dispersed in mailboxes, coat pockets and squashed on the ground, the peperoni had conquered a dry, safe and prominent place: It remained in permanent exhibition at the local restaurant, on top of the fridge next to the bar.
Did I say that it was huge? And hollow? And golden?
Did I say all of this was part of an art festival? **)

In between several huge hollow structures there is no golden peperoni on Olivia’s website. The question of preserving and exhibiting your artistic produce – or hiding and squashing it – proves to be much more ambiguous: which turns out to be which in the long run. –
