Getaway #27: Margit Säde
Margit Säde chose this Sunday’s getaway destination.
– Margit likes pickles and poetry. She’s into stories and voices, into hearing voices, into making others hear voices. She herself has several.
She seems to quite often carry around small amounts of delicious food and drinks to give as a present, like an anonymous schnaps in a jar or a handful of green tea leaves wrapped in beautifully decorated paper. When you share a drink and some chatting, her brain and her voices start adding extra layers to reality, so fast and subtly that you’re no longer sure, did you hear that or was it really nothing. Did she say that or was it someone on the radio.
While your brain is still struggling to sort things out, she might be gone. To Talinn or Tokyo or to pick up her son. –
Mirjam Bayerdörfer invited Margit Säde for the 27th Outside Sunday.

[Report] Self fulfilling prophecies
At some point Margit says: I should have brought toothpicks but one cannot think of everything.
She says it very calmly, like everything else she says that day. Like the instructions she gives where to keep our focus, the descriptions of what is happening around us, as well as what had occurred to her while preparing.
Among that: the sixth sense in relation to other senses, children’s games, birthday presents and someone’s bad sight leading to fantasizing about loosing sight one day.
For most of the time during that Sunday (2, 5 hours) people are holding onto a rope, blindfolded by wearing eye masks made of a very soft material. They’re trusting Margit’s lead, through traffic, to get their mouth close to the water fountain, to take a seat, to get up again.
Some things I can tell (even) without having been blindfolded:
when the rope is tight, you can tell the direction; otherwise you’re lost even holding onto it
really disturbing is a two sided tipped ground, three dimensionally sloping
people walk extremely slow;
public space becomes a wickedly dangerous and crazy surrounding, the closeness of approaching cars is terrifying
closed shoes are really helpful, as even the slightest unevenness really hurts your toes / might cause you to fall over
the position in the group, on the rope, makes a big difference
you feel left alone in a split second
you recognize a church by its smell in a split second
touch and voice develop new, very soothing qualities
you keep your head in a position more tilted upwards, I guess it’s connected to receiving sound – instead trying to blend out visual information actively by looking down.
Of course there was a radio at some point.
